Just picked up a 2019 650R yesterday, so I figured it's time to register and not just lurk! Kept my 16 500R instead of trading...not sure why at this point. The 10 miles I put on the 650 on the way home from the dealer were...awesome!

Looking forward to being a member here!

Same step up I made, also had a 16 500R, but traded mine in. Were you considering the 19 500R?

Seemed like a logical upgrade path to me! I wasn't considering a 19 500R. I know they made some updates, but I really love the sound of the inline 4 and Honda reliability (the bikes I was cross shopping were the Ninja 650 and the Ducati Super Sport...didn't want another twin, and Ducati and reliability probably shouldn't be in the same sentence!).

Welcome to the forum!

Thank you, happy to be here!

Welcome! I also looked at the Ninja 650 and Ducati SuperSport, and found the CBR650 to be the sweet spot for power, performance, comfort, and reliability between the three.

That's awesome man, how ya liking it so far? I just was in the garage today playing around with the screen, admiring the exhaust note, etc. I've had it for the entire weekend, and it has 10 miles on the clock. Barely beat the rain home from the dealership, and it hasn't stopped since (not a fan of riding in the rain, plus brand new bike, plus big upgrade in power, plus brand new tires...looks like my maiden voyage will be Tuesday, according to weather.com!).

Same exact idea I had. All three are really great bikes. The Ninja is a steal of a deal. The Ducati is beautiful. The Honda is just really good at everything, even without being "the best" at anything.

Welcome to the club!
Yesterday I saw Kawasaki is coming with a revised Ninja 650 next year. Looks nice. Some upgrades like a TFT dash. Still, I think the CBR650R has much more to offer than the Ninja. The latter feels a bit like a budget option if the 650R is too expensive.
