Hi, just bought a 2024 e clutch model of cbr 650r. It's just been a thousand kilometers and a dropped the bike twice on the right side. First was while standing and the second one happened today was at like while 12-15km/h speed. As i looked nothing was broken only tiny scratches on the engine block and mirror. The reason im posting this i despiretely need mental support right now i don't know if there could be oil or coolent leakage. I don't even want to look at the bike anymore. I rode back home 30kms everything felt normal. Please experienced riders keep my mental up i loved the bike since the day i bought but now i want to sell it. Framesliders were not available yet at the dealer so i couldn't get them. I feel very upset... What important things should i inspect other than paint scratches? Should i worry or not i can't think straight. Not of course my first time dropping bike but i wanted to keep this bike for a lifetime so i hope you feel me.

If you rode it home and the engine management light wasn't lit and the ABS light went out as normal too it is very unlikely that you have damaged anything. Frame sliders would probably have caused more damage than they saved if the wrong ones were fitted - most likely the frame would have been damaged where the sliders mount. Just look for evidence of spilt coolant and oil and check the levels as per owners' manual. I suggest also that you might benefit from a riding course. Dropping your bike twice in 1,000kms suggests you might benefit. Just saying.

Thank you for your advice man, i will check fluid levels after i sleep 2 days straight.. although i have over 30.000kms experience in mid range sportsbikes i had the two unluckiest moments when dropped this bike. at first my foot slipped while reversing on a wet muddy road and second today, i was making a very tight right turn, bike was cold, my righthand which is also very cold and lost sense couldn't adjust the throttle level you know what it feels like when you give very slight throttle when bike is cold. besides it was on e-clutch mode so i didn't have control on clutch. It just cut throttle causing me to lose balance sadly

It happens, we‘ve all done it and all will do it again. You got up, rode home, you’re all good.

If it’s not actively leaking fluids you are probably fine. Fix the broken parts, and live to ride another day.

Your bike won't hold it against you. It still loves you for giving it a home. Now forgive yourself. The weight of the bike while backing up on a muddy surface; totally understandable, as is the tight turn without being able to modulate the clutch. I doubt the bike suffered any damage other than cosmetic. Give it a once-over and go for a ride ;)

buy a multi-point mounting sliders. Its a heavy bike with high center of gravity especially when you remove the stock exhaust.

I'm not surprised to read this... e-clutch is tricky when engine is cold... bike doesn't have a linear response to the throttle. Many times you have too much clutch, and the bike doesn´t move as it should.
Once, in a steep climb with a right turn, after a cold start, I had to kick the ground to regain balance because it used too much clutch and lost speed unexpectedly.

With e-clutch, it's better to use the clutch till it warms up. After that, everything it works great.

This is also the reason why I think e-clutch is not so good for newbies as is many times announced.

This is too very you sadly, please new users of this bike be very careful when taking off with e clutch active especially if you need to make a tight turn always take control of the clutch. i really wished i was few inches taller back there to kick the ground and regain balance but it happened too sudden. Anyway now i checked on the bike but there really is only a tiny scratch on the block i will try not to think it until i get used to it. I hope everything is fine inside it. Let this thread to be a lesson about e clutch usage. Thank you all for commenting i feel much better now

Hello.
Frame sliders are the best way to potentially cause severe damage to frame or engine block in the mounting points. Not to say they ALL look more horrible than a scratched engine cover! All of them!
Engine covers are inexpensive, if compared with decent sliders price, or even worse, if compared with the damage they can cause when they hit the ground a bit harder.
Due to that, I choose not to use them, and obviously, my CB650 had minor scars.
Droping the bike makes part of riding. It´s something we have to accept it will happen one day. It´s not a meter of "if", it´s a mater of "when" ;-)
My new CB1000 Hornet is in showroom condition, but I'm sure it will not be for long. All I wish is that I don´t hurt myself on the event. The rest, it´s nuts, bolts and a few bucks...

I have fitted the Evotech Frame sliders. They are excellent quality.
Teasing you: how do you define frame sliders quality?! It´s about their price?
They are all so ugly that people using them should be taxed! Same for people using top cases on sport or naked bikes. ;)

Allow me to share something I learned recently. A Honda engineer said that the Hornet engine mounting screws are hollow for a reason. It´s because they are functional in the way they conned engine to the frame. Can you imagine changing this for an undifferentiated bolt?!
Are you sure messing with the factory hardware, in this location, is a good idea? I wouldn´t change these bolts by any other, even worse with attached additional parts, with an unpredictable dynamic behavior, concerning vibration propagation.

Then some "come here" complaining about engine vibration that others don´t experience and no one can explain!

I fitted R&G crash bungs (frame sliders) to my CBR650R but I removed them. I decided that, on balance, they were likely to cause more damage than they would prevent.
That said I have had crash bars on adventure-type bikes that have prevented damage when the bikes fell over when stationary. It depends in the type of bike and how such bars mount.

Hey, you wanna tax me because of my top case!!!?

Yeah.. I agree it doesn't look good 😅
To be honest, I like more the look of the CB with the top case support (Givi M7), because I don't like short tail bikes. Just don't like when I put the top case on it. However, its so useful when you go everyday to work and need to carry some stuff.

About the frame sliders... I had a CBF500 without any protections and dropped it a lot. Still, she was always ready to keep going. The engine was well inside the bike and the contact points were the handlebars and footrest. Great bike!

Had another bike with frame sliders but it never dropped. 😅

With the CB (e-clutch)... crash bars, it's like riding a bike with a boxer engine... 😝 frame sliders, don't think they protect the e-clutch... 🙄 and engine covers... haven't seen any for the e-clutch and anyway I like the golden engine 😄
So... I'm keeping it standard and hope she'll stay that way for many years. 🙂

Well, you can have mine if you want. I bought some R&G ones. I have to say that I am unimpressed by their quality. I was expecting decent quality ones like the OEM one fitted to the clutch side on my CL500 (Interesting that they fit one as standard to that bike). The R&G ones are no doubt functional but look really cheap. Also the clutch side one is a single piece item rather than two separate pieces on some. I have my doubts that they will fit properly between the crankcase and fairing. I won't be fitting those. OK for a track day bike but not for my pride and joy....

These are the Evotech sliders. They mount in two locations, each side.
