Dash cam Installation

Hi everyone,
I have a 2020 CBR650R and I'm looking to install a dash cam. It mentions needing a switched live connection. I know it's probably a very daft question but how do I go about it. I very rarely work on bike wiring.

Not sure if there is a 100% certified right answer but I wired my dashcam to the rear light I beleive. there is a few techniques to tapping into a switched circuit. Posi taps can work, soldering etc all have their pros and cons. You can even create a dedicated switched circuit using a power distribution module. I striped a bit of insulation of the back light wire soldered the dashcam wire one and put a pit of shrink tubing around it for longetivity.

I am no electrical guru but switched circuit is to avoid the camera draining your battery at ignition off. but as will all things hooked up to the battery terminals there will be some parasitic draw. so think about a battery tender long term as well.

Check the wiring diagram in the resource section, and in the back of the service manual to check for switched circuits.

Sorry I don't but its easy to find and if you use cable clips you don't need to cut any wires just attach to wire and close clip job done ,
The hardest thing I found was running cables front to back for both cameras,
If you have a usb point under the seat like mine you could if yours allows just plug it in there

If you put a multi meter across it you will be able to tell I think you have 3 wires ,live switch live for brake light and ground, you want live so camera works when key is turned failing that Google cbr650r wiring harness for rear light ,

You can wire up a female connector that matches the diagnostic port that is usually capped off. On the F series it's beside the battery. It is switched to the ignition. That's where I connected mine.

Not sure whether I've done it right so I'm going to connect the dashcam to a USB port instead. Hopefully this should work
