just arrived....a youngsters' Baja 90 ATV here for a wakeup call, been asleep outdoors undercover for a reported 4 years. Current features include...dead battery, rusted solid drive chain, putrid fuel (thankfully a thick plastic tank), clogged carburetors, black engine oil ....the works, as would be expected from neglect and poor storage conditions.
We'll be working on it. I like it....something surprisingly different in this one. Repairs ongoing. Owner a former coworker (as I'm retired). His plans are to get it functional, move it out and give it to a young relative.

We have a runner. Successful carpotata and intake tract work, new spark plug, valve clearance check all combined in desired results. Some further electrical woes conquered. Everything now functional, starts reliably, idles smooth, responds vigorously with throttle. New battery, drive chain ordered, F&R brake inspections next on the hit parade.

This repair is actually fun. I'm enjoying.....no pressure involved. Pic bodywork removed, running tonight on remote gravity fed fuel source.

Late 50's-early 60's Rochester model BC 1bbl carb in house for rebuild, part # identification needed before able to place parts order. And they had to come apart to reveal part #. 1 part still in question. Challenging....this thing from a late 50's Chevy pickup truck. roch1.jpg

'58 Chevy pickup running sweet. As its local, i did removal, rebuild, reinstall and setup. Rare that I get to witness my own results. Nice low steady idle, perfect throttle response and when released, drops right back down to the smooth idle. The mixture screw is responsive to adjustment....confirming all well within. I'll get a pic up in a day or 2.
