See you over on the VFR pages, buddy! I have an '07 Anniversary. What year did you get? The CB is my bike in Thailand, and this is my US bike.F49B646A-456C-4D39-975F-88A018B69CA9.jpeg

M @Motojack I bought my 650F in the Spring of 2016. It was a leftover 2014. I got a really good deal on it as the dealer wanted it gone. The VFRs were at least $5K more. I put 18K trouble free miles on my 650F, no regrets. My wife started riding pillion with me about 2 years ago and the more we rode the more I realized with a passenger i needed something with more oomph. I would not have pulled the trigger on it had otherwise, there was fundamentally nothing wrong with the 650 overall.

I was looking at several bikes to upgrade to (Tracer 9 GT, BMW 1000XR. FJ-09, etc) and found this VFR at an LA Ducati dealer. It had 7200 miles on it, one owner. Ironically the sales manager used to work at the Honda dealer right by my house for 12+ years, and was familiar with both bikes. He gave me almost as much on my trade as I paid for the bike 5+ years ago, so it was sort of a no brainer. Definitely get the Deluxe model if you trade up. The Centerstand, self-cancelling signals, heated grips and ABS/TCS are worth the [slight] premium over the basic model. I bought a 2nd set of seats on E-Bay and got some gel pad inserts and new seat covers. Seats are now super-comfortable and I can log many miles without my backside complaining. The OE saddle bags are unobtainium but I got the Hepco/Becker kit from a US distributor and they are really awesome (lockable and removable).

I initially wanted to get a VFR but the dealer was trying their best to put me off it. I guess they are harder to sell on these days secound hand judging from our conversation. I went with the cbr in the end it was cheaper, smaller and im planing to do some european tours. the mods I have planned for it are essentially turning it into a mini VFR :D

VFR's are awesome. A real staple in Hondas lineup, until recently. For some reason the 8th gens, the newest edition, was a flop in the States. It's a brilliant bike, still popular abroad, but apparently didn't quite match the popular market, and this was enough for Honda to axe the model! Shocking, especially because the VFR was over three decades in R&D. I remember reading one article that mentioned it was essentially the same spec throughout its lineage, power/weight etc. meaning Honda nailed it the first time and simply evolved it into a better bike through the years. Many of us are always hoping for a reintroduction, but at the same time, if one did come out, how could we give up our trusty old one. I've hardly ridden mine yet. I bought it a year ago, with 989 miles on it. Flew to Florida from Wash. to check it out, and had it shipped home. Since then, I've done the wheels gold,1FEB89BA-91CB-4699-97E1-AA0DE17E0382.jpegnew tires, fluids, accessory installations, the works. Waiting now for next summer to rack up some miles.
Sorry to highjack this post Baug, but my mate here in Thailand is actually interested in your parts for sale. He's not quite ready as he's yet to dispose his CB500X and gain a 650, but I happened to be cruising the site and showed him what you have, which is just what he needs, specifically the exhaust and the bags. We're WA boys, and plan to be back in the Spring. In the meantime, we're going to burn some benzene in So. Thai, buzzin some beaches. The 650F is a perfect bike for Thailand in my opinion. I'm happing to have an in-line4 and a V4 in my lineup. Plus the wife's ADV150, and the NSR150 I let go last year. Gold wheels galore!
