CB650R E Clutch 2024 delays...

I was told the issue was related to a component in the dash.
My current bike is being collected in October. Then, new bike in March 🤞

Honda will have lost 100s of sales worldwide on this issue.

The compensation is £500 in accessories, which equates to the Sports Comfort pack. Tbh, neither of which I'm interested in

In my search of a ‘24 CBR650R I have been told to give up the idea of riding it this year. There is very inconsistent and incomplete information coming from Honda, but multiple sources have told me that it is indeed an issue with the indicators.

Ended up finding the last one in my small country and claim it though. E-clutch works great and have not had any issues with it yet after 3k km’s. There are some finicky mechanics I had to get used to, like how it sometimes decides it hasn’t shifted fully and requires a quick release of the throttle before I can shift again, but overall I’m happy. Definitely recommend if you stop and go often.

Hi!
Happy to hear you got yours and it's a pleasure to ride with.
If I knew in time, I would also have put all my effort in finding the last one 🤪

Hi,

Not interested in the Sports Comfort pack either, since I bought the Racing black pack 😅
Hope they will come up with some better compensation for it is no small inconvenience anymore.

Glad you still have your old bike!
I was thinking about buying a second hand in the meantime, but as the dealer said the issue maybe could be solved guick, I thought it wasn't worth it.
Now, 7weeks later and with the information I have, I should have done it 🤷‍♀️

I find it curious that the issue appears to be with the indicators. I don't see why E-clutch should impact on them. Last time I went to my local Honda dealer they had several 2024 model CB(R)650R bikes for sale (standard models). AFAIK these have not been affected by the indicator issue (or have they?) yet they have the same new instruments and, I believe, the necessary wiring etc for future conversion to E-clutch. Strange indeed. Personally I prefer a manual clutch but I do wonder why Honda seems to have dropped the ball with this one - most unusual. I haven't seen anything about it in the bike press either. Sportsbike comparison tests have made no mention of the issue that I have seen.

It may not be an issue with the physical indicators, but something with the way the E-clutch and indicators work together or even other “indication” like indication on the dash is the issue.

Lots of speculation is really all we’ve seen but nothing solid and honestly there probably never will be. If you say publicly that what the full issue is than others that have already gotten their bike have written evidence something may be wrong with their bike.

It’s probably just a parts supply issue specific to the e-clutch system.

Someone reminded me today, that manufacturers such as Triumph would have realised the bike with the fault and then produced a fix somewhere down the line. Not the first time a manufacturer has done that.

So, appareantly, in Belgium there will be no compensation at all.. 😔
That's poor.
I wonder how many sales they've lost due to the issue, which covers 4 or more models

Hello, everyone.

I'm part of the group, keep trying to place an order for the bike since March '24 and still waiting for news... Here in Italy, and I've got this news from two Honda dealers, they're expecting to get the bikes now in September, same here on the rumor about indicators relé issue.

I really hope it's only that and finally they will start to be available because since I've tried one this summer I literally love it, I've tried other bikes but the CB with the e-clutch is super for what I need, daily ride in city traffic and lot of fun in the weekend.

At this rate maybe Yamaha will beat them to the market.....Interesting that the Yamaha system costs nearly £600.

Didn't realise Yamaha had a competitive model to the CBR650R
The R7 is poor
Not sure which models Yamaha is offering its new system on but I think it's a 900 triple, which is a class up on the CBR650R and would need to be to justify the additional cost of their e-clutch (not called that but it is effectively what it is). The R7 is too much of a race rep with riding position to suit but not the performance. It hasn't sold well, I gather. Personally I'd rather have an ordinary manual clutch but I can see the attraction for some. I'd like the better instruments and styling on the 2024 though. Whatever, I shall probably change my CBR for a bike more to my liking. It's the first across the frame l/c inline four I've owned in fifty six years of riding and nearly forty bikes. Thought I'd try one as a bucket list bike. Done that now and don't really like the feel, sound or relative lack of grunt without screaming around everywhere. Definitely more of a twins or singles man. Itch scratched....😀

You really do have to wind the bike up but then it screams and moves 🙂

For me, having had Gixers, and wanting something that ticks most boxes, the CBR650R is a great bike.

Yes, I don't disagree; it's just that it isn't really my sort of bike. I'm glad I tried one though, having never bothered with Gixers, FireBlades etc, though I have ridden a Fireblade. I hope the E-clutch version lives up to expectations.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up for September but hoping this is true

Next week I'll give a call to my two trusted Honda dealers and will let you know what they will say. In the meantime I've applied for the new MT-09 Y-AMT test drive that would be available in next months, the full automatic transmission is not convincing me so much but in the end, it's almost one year since I saw the CB at EICMA, it's unbelievable this delay.

Hello, from Japan,
Same stituation in Japan.

2024 model of CB650r release date in Japan was June 13th, the announcement was made on April 11th, and I orderd on April 11th.
There has been absolutely no sincere information about this delay in the release.
In other words, I assume it's a problem with the certification system.

However, as you may know, in the US, its release was announced, and there are articles saying that it will be at dealers in September.
I'm hoping that means the certification issue has been cleared up.

Just had a catch up with one of my tursted Honda dealers, he told me they'll receive the first bunch within two weeks, mainly black and have to check for other colors, this weekend i will pass by and, if everything it's ok I think I'll drop the order.

Nice one. Hopefully you get something sorted. Still not heard anything from my dealer but I may be down a long list of orders
