Hey everyone,

Today, while installing GB Racing engine covers, I noticed something unusual when removing three bolts. A black and sticky substance came out with them. It had a plasticine-like consistency and a sour smell. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures since I was in a rush, but I’m referring to these three bolts. The amount varied, with the one marked by the arrow having quite a lot of it.

Should I be concerned?

I would agree with EZFLYER75 @EZFLYER75. Without pictures it’s hard to know exactly but the cover sealant is black and tacky but should be dry. I wouldn’t overthink it.
Here’s a picture of the substance. When I unscrewed the bolt, it shot out of the hole, what’s left in the picture is just the residue. I also asked about this on Discord, and someone mentioned that if it were an oil leak, it would smell more like fuel. So, I’ll probably take your advice and not overthink it.

Probably sealant from que engine cover mating surface. When they were srewed in at the plant, they took sealant in the threads. Mayde due to excess being used. Does it make sense? :-/
