Biker with ear problem

Hi!

I really love to ride bikes but the problem is I have sensitive ears that are prone to tinnitus. Just bought a pair of noise reduction ear plugs/ear piece and they do not fit well in my ears. I'm planning to get new ones but I'm torn between these two brands: https://www.bigearinc.com/products/motorcycle-ear-plugs/ and https://pinlock.com/products/earplugs/.

First one is a company that offers customized ear protection and the second one had good reviews online. The thing is...I think I have an uneven ear canal and I'm not sure if a pair of generic plugs would be very useful. I just hope you can help me decide what to buy.

Your ears like your nose grow all your life so even made to measure plugs only last couple years.

There are so many to choose from.I use the christmas tree shaped silicone earplugs on long trips but to

be honest with you i hate wearing any ear plugs they just give me the shits.So i only wear them if i am

going over 100km or more.My cbr250r is louder than my cbr650 and i never wear them when i ride my

cbr250r.Again that's me, it's up to you.

I just started using auritech biker ones (orange colour).

Massive improvement and you can still hear voice/music through them.

I’ve used the generic plugs for years which work fine but over the past few seasons have transitioned to some that are a bit better.

First, I tried these Vibes ones I’d been reading a lot about:

Search “Vibes earplugs” and get them on Amazon.

They work GREAT because the reduce the “noise” but keep the sounds as they were. In other words, it’s quieter without being or feeling muffled but be warned because you can push them in far if you’re not careful. After a particularly hot, long day I accidentally pushed one in far enough to need a tweezers to grab it. Haven’t done it since, but it happened.

Then I bought some custom made plugs at a bike show. They fit great and block out everything but I felt claustrophobic because they worked so well. I have a bit of tinnitus so silence feels weird to me. They also felt weird when I went up and down elevations but that might have just been me and my allergies.

I went back to my Vibes and was very happy with them.

If you want very quiet, go custom from a reputable place. My buddy got the do-it-yourself kit a few years ago and while they work, they aren’t as good as a shop can do.

I sympathise with anybody who suffers from tinnitus . I had it fairly bad before hard wax removed from my ears ,and have slight wooshing still so always wear earplugs when riding now , foam rubber type , don't know which type are the best. Best to do anything you can to try and avoid bringing tinnitus on.
