Hello,
I'm from Italy and own a 2021 cbr650r that is restricted for A2. I wanted to derestrict the bike, but I don't want to flash the ECU (so that I can easily restrict it again)
I know there are a few ways to do that, but I'm not that well-informed on with is the way to go.

(I know the prefix is missing, but I wasn't able to add one)
(edit: it worked now)

Mine is done with a kit from Kickstart Engineering & its just a Throttle stop. If youve already got it restricted with a ECU flash youll have to get a delaer to reflash it back to original. After that you could use a kit like what is on my bike that just reduces the amount the throttle can turn then you can restrict & derestrict at you will. i got my kit with all the paperwork next day delivery.

I don't think you can derestrict it without a flash or at least some kind of fuel controller. At least not that I have seen.

I am getting it deristricted by Honda dealership. They said they will flash ECU with a kit and warranty will be intact (costing me $1200 NZD) Its restricted at 48hp and will be getting 94hp after derestriction (that’s about double the power) with some gains in torque. Shame they have to restrict the bike to bring it into the country for LAMS, why not just limit LAMS vehicles to 300cc freaking bulls**t.

Honda don't have to restrict the bike, they just choose to. I have spoken to a few Honda dealers and they said that the full power version of the bike didnt sell well but the LAMS did so they just bring them in LAMS and if you want full power, you have to get it derestricted. But I agree, the LAMS rules should limit CC to 500cc because a 500 already makes ~50hp depending on the model which is at about the limit of LAMS power-weight ratio. 650cc bikes should be sold as full power bikes.

Hey bro, I don't think it is wise to derestrict the bike without having it flashed/tuned. If you put more air into the engine without putting more fuel in (that flash puts more fuel in) then you will run the bike very lean and that will be VERY bad for your engine and may cause it to help pistons/valves. If you want to derestrict the bike, do it properly with a tune/flash. I had mine flashed by Dynoworx and the bike runs sweet! So much power, it's intoxicating. Only thing is the fuel consumption is really high.

I would guess the bike will not run well without reprograming the ECU accrodingly.
I'm sure that not even the power output will be significant without this reprograming as it is also the way they limit power output.
Needs to be done, period.
