All 650's akrapovic problem cb650r 2024

Hello! I bought the titanium racing exhaust from Akrapovic, the 2024 model for the new CB with its mandatory kit, but I didn't notice that on the page they say that the engine failure light may appear. I have been talking to the page where I bought the exhaust and it says that No one else has had problems, would anyone know a solution?

The ‘24 has 2 O2 sensors, the pipe only has a spot for 1. You need to get another o2 eliminator plug, have another bung welded or get your bike flashed to ignore the sensors.

There’s info on here already for it, have a search.

Hi there! What you say is true but that was the case of the old 2023 model, the new model recently came out with the 2 spaces for the new probe, but they have done it wrong, look at the photo I put above in the text below

So you bought the pipe, have it installed, it has 2 o2 bungs, both your plugs are installed and reconnected and you bike shows a CEL light?

On a 2024 model year, without a cat, you're going to throw a code because of the pre+post cat ECU monitoring. There is no reliable ECU-trick, plug-in eliminator kit (that I am currently aware of) for these Euro5+ bikes that will get rid of this CEL. You will likely need an ECU flash that ignores this fault in order to permanently and effectively get rid of it.

Unfortunately, you're not the only one - sorry.

I would try first removing the warning with a ODB adapter. I did get a warning after removing the display when removing the fairings. I did remove it using the ODB device and the warning never appeared again.

I have already erased the fault 3-4 times but after 50km it appears again, finally I have bought an override that I have seen that is compatible with the 2024 cbr600rr and that was previously compatible with the 2019 and 2020 cb I will tell you if it works or No

I put the Akra exhaust on my CB650R 2024 and after 100-150 miles or so, I also got an engine light. Brought it to Honda and they did another ECU re-set - I have now done another 100-150miles and so far so good, no light.

BTW, have you removed the db killer by any chance?

Hola man - spoke too early... I also started getting engine lights on my bike, with same error related to catalytic converter reading. Have you tried your override OS Eliminator on your bike? Did it work? If so, could you please send me the link to the product?

Thanks a lot!

Can't answer that but I did read today that Euro V+ in addition to monitoring the effectiveness of the cat over time (hence the downstream O2 sensor) also requires misfiring detection. It was the bike manufacturers' difficulty in incorporating this into their systems (and therefore getting full OBD compliance) that allowed a time extension as it was supposed to have been achieved with Euro V. The issue was that vibration on bike engines caused misfiring detection to show a fault - hence the delay. Source of the inclusion of misfiring detection is Bennett's BikeSocial - review of new 2025 NT1100. My reason for mentioning it here is that maybe misfiring (or vibration) is the root cause?

get a eliminator 2 times total and remap done.
Sorry, what do you mean? I do not understand

An OS Eliminator from Healthech Electronics is 20£/ERU, a fully remap is several hundreds of £/EUR. Problem is that to my understanding it is difficult to find OS Eliminators for Euro5 / Euro5+ models. I emailed Healthech and they told me they are developing one but likely to come out end of the year / beginning next one.

Thanks - sorry you cannot answer because you have not yet tried to put an OS Eliminator on or is it something else?

Are you saying that an OS Eliminator might not help anyway because what makes the light come up is misfiring and not just a wrong cat reading? I now had the light come up 3 times and all of the time was the same error P0420-00 CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD.

Thanks

What I'm saying is that there isn't yet much factual information about the impact that misfire detection might have on triggering faults on an engine which can vibrate at certain frequencies (plenty of posts on vibration on these motors). The 2024 CB/CBR is one of the first to meet EuroV+ as evidenced by the additional post-Cat O2 sensor. I understand Euro V+ comes into force fully in 2025, so Honda has pre-empted the deadline, it seems. I would not have thought that Honda would bother with two stages of implementation (thought they might have done), so I assume the 2024 bikes have misfire detection too. I am merely suggesting that this could be a possible reason for the warning light coming on. I'm afraid it's an early adopter issue - it takes time for dealers and aftermarket kit providers to work through the changes made and to fully assess the impact and remedies.

If you have 2 o2 sensors you need 2 eliminators and a remap would be fine to sort out the lean run issue on low rpm
