Just want to report on the very positive experience I had with the 1000 km service today.

I went to the dealership without an appointment.
When I arrived an office lady came out even before I could take my helmet off.
I told her about the service and she said it could be done immediately.
She asked about the service book, which I handed over.

The work started within a minute by 2 mechanics.

I watched what they did and as far as I could see:

- Topped up coolant.
- Checked and adjusted air-pressure in tires.
- Cleaned brake calipers with compressed air.
- Checked and adjusted chain and lubed chain.
- Checked and adjusted play in clutch and throttle. I asked for the minimum play for both.
- Greased foot pegs, side-stand, all levers.
- Torqued most bolts and nuts.
- Oil and filter change (Honda Protech Ultra full synthetic 10w30).
- Checked all lights.
- Did a test ride and tested brakes, throttle and suspension.

When they were finished the office-lady came out with the bill and the stamped book.
In and out within 20 minutes. Bill was 1800 Baht (about $60).
Most of that price was the oil and the filter. Labor is extremely cheap here.

A very happy customer :)...

Very nice.
I rode to the dealership last week because my license plate was rattling in its holder.
Told 'em about the problem and one of the mechanics rolled my bike into the workshop and removed the old holder and replaced it with a new one. He then checked chain slack, lubricated the chain, checked oil level, checked coolant level, inflated tires and wiped some of the dirt off the fairing and swingarm, all for the grand sum of €0.

Now I guess this is considered ordinary customer service, and it only took him less than 10 minutes but I didn't expect him to do it so I was pleasantly surprised because he didn't actually have to do those additional things.

Good to hear other positive experiences with dealers.
In Thailand (and Honda) it was all positive so far.
In Holland it was a mixed bag from extremely bad to very good (bads were other brands though, not Honda).

Why do I get the feeling the 1000km service is supposed to be complimentary?
Can anyone in Australia comment on this?

Dunno. I did get my 1000km service as a freebee when I bought the bike. It had done a little less than 1000km at that point though but they changed oil and replaced the filters and everything.
