General Info

The Red CB650R 2023, with my own little twist. I would not have driven the B license, but then I saw this bike...

- Evotech Tailtidy kit.
- Puig clutch and brake levers, black/red.

Another project on going.. You may not like it but I've always had a stupid thing for "twin tail lights", even on bikes.
The light are generic bike tail lights and going to add a custom printed adapter-housing to attach it.

Yeah I can produce more or provide the .stl files for printing. Thou' I'm going to redesign the printed part during this winter. The current one has some issues, material being a bit too thin and also attaching it to the bike is a bit finnicky atm.

The light itself is just a two generic motorbike brake lights, I bet you can find them outside of Finland too:
 
Ok, time to redesign the rear light housing!

So thickened the walls and the backplate from 2mm to 4mm, also added some strengthening plates into the middle and the sides. Should keep the housing from bending. Hopefully?

Going to print the part this week so, we'll see how it goes. Only a 3h print so not too bad.

Hey mate would you be willing to sell one of the twin tail light cb650r assemblies with the bracket and lights and ship to Australia? Have always thought the cb650r would be better with a twin tail light and I'm glad I'm not the only one with the same idea.

I don't know why I prefer the dual round ones.. maybe some r32 nissan skyline / 180sx retro-preversion. :D

But about selling, I could I guess.

I bet they even sell these same lights at AU so, I don't think they'd be a problem for you to get locally, or domesticly.

Other than that, its couple nuts and a bolt.. Some sticky foam pieces and two pieces of aluminium bar. So its not that complicated. Can always provide some measurements and maybe some rough guide how to.

And yeah of course you have to splice the factory wiring. And swap the usual light bulbs that come with the lights (5W/21) to leds cause, 5/21W is a bit too much for the circuit..maybe.. I did use them for a while but swapped to leds just to be sure. The oem tial light uses like 1-4W or so (cant remember exact).

I think the dual round lights are awesome, definitely a nod back to the japanese sport bikes of the 90s and I feel like it gives more personality to the bike over the standard setup. I know people over here that could print the file but even still I would like to give you some kind of credit for being the one to actually make the part. As far as wiring in and finding the right bulb that should be easy enough, whatever you can do to help would be much appreciated. Thanks for your fast response mate.

Don't worry about the credit hehe. If the bracket is something you wanna use and enjoy, by all means. (or anyone in the forums..)

I can draw some schematic and take couple photos of the bike for reference when I go to the garage next time. (where the sticky foam is suppose to be etc).

I tried to do the mod in a way that there would be as few irreversible changes to the bike in case you want to return it to stock. You just need to take couple rubber grommets off outta' the way but otherwise no further changes needed, except splicing the oem wiring. Unless you can find a wire somewhere with the right plug.
 
I made a thing...

A: nuts and washers that come with the round lights.

B: spacers to stabilize A1 against the light housing when nuts A are tightened.
Goes thru' the bolts on the lights.
Should be around the same height as C bolts "nut" part.
Silicone, rubber or plastic? Anything will do really.

C: 6 mm bolt (I'll check lenght, its around 50-60 mm).
Goes thru' a hole in part A1, "plastic wall" and A2.
(No holes needed to drill into the bike, there should be big enough hole in the "plastic wall")

D: 6 mm nut, ties A1 gainst left side of the bolt (when looked at picture).

E: 6 mm washer and locknut. To lock A2 against "plastic wall" while pulling whole light assy. inwards.

A1: piece of aluminium flat bar with 3 holes. W 20mm x H 3mm / L 38mm
1 x 6-6,5 mm for bolt C
2 x 4,5 mm for bolts on the lights.

A2: another piece of aluminium flat bar with 1 hole. W 25mm x H 3mm / L 100mm
1 x 6-6,5 mm for bolt C
Can be covered with heat shrink tube for example to make it more stealthy. Also leaves less marks on "plastic wall".

Also some sticky adhesive foam band/sheet should be added under the light housing edge
and at the end spots of the round lights against the "rubber wall".

Aluminium profile bar measurements added.

Also did a thing! Painted the exhaust heat shield matt black.. Cause why not.
