So been riding CBR500's for a few years and decided after a test ride of the new CBR models, chose to upgrade to the 650R. Very nice bike, especially in the matt black paint. Added the tinted screen and pillion cover, then some rim tape and an HRC tank pad. Am in the process of changing rear sprocket nuts for lighter and more corrosion resistant titanium, as this bike will be seeing salt covered roads in winter.
Only small niggle is why Honda decided to put the traction control switch where the headlight flash trigger usually is, used to like flashing people by squeezing that trigger. So glad Honda finally added gear indicators to their mid-range bikes.

Yeah, not too bothered about the colour, mainly because my GSXR 750 also has the yellow spring on a black and grey bike. R&G do sell a black cover, but quite like seeing the exposed coilover.

I like the yellow spring. But after seeing your bike I defo need to invest in a pillion cover. Looks so much better with it.

It does finish the back end off quite nicely I think. As soon as I saw the demo bike fitted with one I decided I wanted mine to look the same.

What Jake says!

Here in the UK the number plates have a reflective yellow background, so it isnt as if its the only yellow bit on the bike. I do wonder why Showa only have yellow springs on their coilover dampers. I think a black spring would be better.

Ok, so the yellow spring was niggling me, and after riding in wet weather it became obvious the angle of the whole shock absorber attracted spray and therefore dirt from the rear tyre. Therefore I found, purchased and fitted something called a Shockbuddy by Bikebits to cover it. Basically a piece of waterproof stretchy fabric with a zip to secure it around the shock. Below picture also shows off the titanium sprocket nuts I decided to fit, as I know over time and in winter conditions the stock ones will start to look tatty.

Hello Eaglemoto @Eaglemoto,

I've also bought a shockbuddy but damn, the quality is very bad (zip).
I tried to put it in place but it was very tight... the zip broke at the second attempt.
Did you wrap the whole spring? (including the sort of grey plastic circle on top) or did you just wrap the spring?

Any closer picture of the installation would be appriciated!

Thanks!

Hello Jiyuu. Sorry to hear you had issues with it. I connected the zip together at the bottom of the shock and zipped it upwards. The fabric is stretchy so I was able to carefully secure it round part of the top section of the shock. Its difficult to take a photo in the recessed area but will give it a go.

Thanks for answering!
I managed to put it on, despite the broken zip...
I will see if it stays in place or not!

Looks good, I rotated mine so that the zip was facing forward and therefore not visible.
