Fuel tank drain

Hi folks, I think water has got into the fuel tank after I saw water being stuck on top of the tank (the drain hole must have been blocked). I will fix the top drain issue but am now wondering how to drain the tank to make sure no water is stuck at the bottom, rusting the inside... Is there a way to drain it and get rid of every bit of liquid in there or will I have to remove the tank completely?

Unless you prop the tank up somehow I'm sure you can drain the tank. But at that point you'd be one lift away from taking the tank off!

It's not that difficult to remove the tank just follow the steps in the Service Manual.

Thanks guys for the replies. I'm new to injection bikes so on a learning slope... I read about fuel stabilizers(e.g. Heet) as a lazy solution > any good?

Today I also saw water stuck in the tank and not being drained thru that small hole at the left side.
How did you get it sorted?

Hi there, I used compressed air. I tried to do it slowly but did not quite managed! It did the job though, stuff came out at the bottom of the bike, and since then no issue. Not sure whether compressed air going too hard may have damaged something - or cut a line... I guess I will check when I do maintenance next. I also still plan on draining the tank, just because I don't know for how long the drain was blocked and how much water might have gone into the tank.

I think if water had gone into your tank, you would have felt your bike choking, wouldnt it?

The drain hose under the tank could be pinched. Check that too, as the drain should be free flowing.

Thank you. The dealer near me refused to look at it because I hadnt bought the bike from them, although the bike is still under warranty. I really dont like that Honda Dealer.
I went there to test ride a cb650r and felt the same issue, lack of customer care is a big issue there.

If your bike was assembled by the same numpty who put my bike together, the fuel tank breather hoses and the overflow are all out of their designated routing points under the tank and all kinked when the tank was lowered.

Unfortunately that can be the same case, because nobody has changed anything on my bike. Ill update this thread once I get this sorted out with Honda. I made a complaint with Customer Service and they got back to me. Now I need to provide them some additional details to move forward.
