Just curious what people are paying for insurance where they live. I paid about $1200 CDN for this year through a well known bike insurer here(riders plus - 45yrs old, no tickets). Also, I just called to get a quote for my kid on a Rebel 250 - as of the past week or so they tell me the companies aren't insuring 16 year olds for now.
Maybe it's time to leave, I'm pretty angry.

About €430 (490 USD/645 CAD/700 AUD/345 GBP) a year for full coverage. I'm 35 years old. Limited to 8000km a year though and about €750 of own risk (deductible I mean, had to Google translate that term :))

Was paying 582 USD to progressive but switched now to Geico who has discounts for Ridercoaches, so paying 415 per year. Full coverage both. 500 deductible.

I'm around £180 in UK mainly cos I'm old well 46 and benefits of age experience now.
Skeletor people can find similar here too with kids I work with kids as a job one of my colleagues is 23 and pays £1750 per year for a 10 year old Toyota Yaris which is more per month for that than my car in a year and bike just a little more. My nephew loves bikes but would cost as much a small capacity bike to buy as will to ensure, no wonder bike meets are the preserve almost entirely of OG's now in UK as being priced out of bikes as well as cars.

Yeah it's brutal being young today costs are out of control, glad am seen as a lesser risk, Never really understood insurance only incidents/ crashes I ever had were due to other driver ramming me from behind one was jeep ran over top of my sports coupe and beached on roof other party paid in full but my insurance went up. Second one was were back was broken which became a nightmare my premium trebled overnight for 3 years again other party admitted full liability but got it back after fighting like hell to do so.

Was paying around $225 or so per year for full coverage. I’m well over 40, no accidents, good credit. My Duc is $365 or something close.

Am at renewal around August so run a comparison on new CB650r against MT07 and all similar bikes for me in UK, the 650r is the cheapest for me the 07 is £76 more per year than new bike. SvV50, Z650 were just more expensive ,for Monster 797 just a little more and BMW f800 was £100 more than 650r. Triumph who are usually classed as British therefore cheaper in UK was £126 more per year than 650r. Just for banter ran a MV through comparison site and came back £87 per year which is bonkers for such a scarce bike and renowned for expensive parts etc.
Again adds to confusion on insurance, my car however each year simple webchat tell company it's to expensive and price will lower by £80-100 just for following it up. A few years ago call handler asked if I thought insurer should pay me for cover due to haggling so hard -well i'm a Scot so should have known better. But all insurance is same have to go through this to get reasonable price, house insurance was same after quick chat got better cover for a lot less money. I look after this for parents too and they couldn't believe what they were paying 10 years ago compared to today, however another side to this is former manager at work paid insurance to fake company and nearly lost his driving license due to this for driving whilst uninsured so there is an element of ensuring you cover all your bases.

This is really useful. Another caveat to mega cheap sounding insurance is also to consider the unfortunate point when you have to actually use it. In my past it is when you really find out what your insurance company is like.

CBR650F restricted was ~600€ full coverage
CBR650F de-restricted was ~400€ partial coverage
CB1000R ~950€ full coverage
CB1000R ~300€ partial coverage

Always with 150 / 300€ own risk for partial / full coverage
The 650 was and the 1000 is insured in the name of my father with me as the rider (under 25, that´s the magical number here). So the price ended up somewhere in the middle.

As the next bike will be insured on my name, I was curious, currently looking at ~1k for a MT/FZ-09 (and similar bikes) or ~3.5k for a Tuono (and similar bikes).
That´s full coverage on a pretty new bike (up to 2 years old). March - November with around 10.000 km / year.
Partial coverage would be around ~350 / 650€ for a bike in one of those two groups.
Also with the class of Hyper Naked bikes (~150hp and over) the choice of insurance companies is limited for people under 25. Don´t ask about the Supersport segment

I guess it all depends where you live as what your rates are.My insurance co. is Tokio Marine in thailand. The coverage goes down each year

as i picked up the bike in 2014 but the cover is good. This year i only paid about 130 usd. Which is not bad as we have the highest death rate

in the world for motorbikes. The thai's like being number 1.

I pay $320/year, full coverage - theft, $3500 mods, etc...with Progressive. 49 years old, single, no kids. Had one wreck in 2015 and Progressive had a payoff check in my hands within 5 days! They treated me very well, albeit, I miss that bike! :sorry:

$15 USD per month.

Bare minimum coverage though, I only paid $4.7K for the bike so felt it really wasn’t necessary.
