CBR650F Is my cbr650f restricted?

Bought the bike before Christmas. It was advertised as a2 licence bike so asked the dealer to remove the restriction.

Dealer said the restriction has been taken off however I have my reservations about this.

Weather hasn't been good up north lately however the past 2 days it's been dry but very cold!!

Had a few issues with the bike which have been discussed in other threads and after speaking to another Honda dealer (Lancaster) he believes something has not been done right when removing the restriction and asked me to try and push the bike hard on a 'private road'

So the past 2 days I've gone to a long stretch of road, probably nearly a mile long starught as an arrow and flat.

I'm only achieving 105 maximum. That's not even getting out of 5th and it seems to have no grunt left. I'm new to the world of bikes and now think Lancaster Honda is correct.

Should I be hitting higher speeds in about a mile long road or do I need to go to a motorway I try my luck on a longer road? Finding a straight road in the Lake District is pretty tough!!

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't do anymore high speed runs for a dealers sake for your own safety! They are right, if you can't top 105mph in 5th and ran out of power then it's definitely still restricted. This is how mine used to perform before its restriction.

Hi mate, mine is currently restricted and I'm getting around 110-115mph TOP in 6th gear. You've definitely got it restricted! :)

You were right. It was restricted. I took it back to the dealers and had them take it off. I've had 142 out of it now, obviously on a private road ;-) . Happy with that.

142 mph , bloody hell  Is there an easy way to check if it is restricted without trying to do 142 mph ? I assume my 2018 cb650f isn't restricted but I didn't know this model could be , so didn't ask my dealer when I bought it .

If you're on an A2 licence then that's the only category bike you can legally ride and they should have told you so. If that's the case, I don't understand why you wouldn't check that it IS restricted before you buy it, seems daft.

Otherwise! If you have a full licence then it shouldn't be, it would be a dick move to sell you a restricted bike in this circumstance. To test it, try get over 105mph in 5th/6th, if it takes you a while to get there and you find it topping out at 105mph ish then it's restricted. It's the only sure fire way of checking on a private road.

The dealer knows I have a full licence and have had for years , I have bought several bikes from the same dealer and can't imagine they would sell me a restricted for A2 use bike ( but I did get a Honda NC700X that had some sort of restriction that cut in at certain revs ! )
