Hey I was looking at getting a quickshifter for my bike. Im looking at the healtech quickshifter or the oem one, Is the healtech one worth it over the oem?

Hi. I have the oem and dont have any experience with Healtech. The install takes minutes, just swap the shift rod, route wire(short route) and click in the connector, done. No extra box under seat ect. Works perfectly for my normal road use, it does….. quickshift😜 Price is even slightly lower here. One consideration chosing oem was no warranty issues, but dont know if fitting Healtech gives warranty problems.
Just my two cents but go for qs, its fun..

Hello guys. I am considering a Healtech QS for my 2016 CB650F. I know, that it only works when shifting UP, but is it also cutting the ignition when downshifting with the clutch engaged? Or somehow QS knows , that I am shifting down and will not cut the ignition?

I have the OEM quickshifter and it works well for both track and street. Installation was quick and easy, just plug it in and go, no software or control box required. The OEM QS is not configurable, so if you need to adjust the cut time (the duration that the spark stops when you shift), you will need to get the Healtech. Like Brammers said, if you have a Power Commander, check DynoJet's website and see if they have a QS available as an add-on.

I know that there is no blipper for cb's, BUT my question was, if the QS is still cutting the ignition when you downshift manualy, WITH the clutch. Because the sensor on a shifting rod doesn't know the direction you are shifting, it just sences the pressure and cutting the ignition, no mater up or down you press. Is that the case or the QS sees the revs go down so the QS doesn't cut the ignition when downshifting?

It does know, it only cuts it if senses a pull. SO it is NOT cutting it for downshifts.

I think OEMs are only for 2019+ models :-(

Thank you for the answer. I knew the OEMs don't cut when downshifting but wasn't sure if Healtech does it or not.

Downshift QS requires an auto blipper, which the 650 can't do because its a cable not electronic throttle.

There is no downshift QS for either the 650f or 650r. You need a QS sensor that detects a push only.

Be prepared to be floored. There is a mechanical auto blip being made now. Not sure they are actually selling it, but check it out below:

i wonder if honda will move away from the cable throttle in order to provide the up/down QS. it seems more bikes are coming with them as standard, like the TFT screens

i personally like the old-school tech, if anyone is keeping score... 😂

I hope the new Hornet will tick all the boxes.

It's inevitable that more and more bikes will eventually transition to ride-by-wire. However, its necessity will be more dictated by increasing stringent emissions laws, rather than the bonus of added feature-sets like QSs, rider-modes, etc. The auto industry has had drive-by-wire for some time now for similar reasons and fuel economy.

I too prefer the raw connection ride-by-cable on bikes, but appreciate FI tech for fuel-mapping tunability. :)

Hi guys! I got oem honda quickshifter last spring and install it strictly following the manual. It definitely works, but stock quickshifter on mt-09sp works nicer for sure. I would say yamaha shifter is much quicker at not so rpm-related as hondas. I got not only a big delay in sparks trying to shift at low-to-middle rpm but also a sometimes dash instead selected gear at dashboard when shifting up near redline. Sometimes next gear disengages and I got fake neutral. That's never happened with no quickshifter. Maybe I need some black magic to get this working perfectly. As far I have to use clutch in 80\100. Thanks!

I have the OE QS, and I have false neutrals 1 in 50 times maby.. But I read somewhere else, that a shorter push on the rod (adjustment of the shifter) should eliminate the false neutrals. It also will do so, if you pushes it ALLL the way, when you shift up ;)

On a 650r, go OEM for the above reasons.

If you have a Power Commander fitted, go with their QS unit as there's no more wiring to do.

Other than that - choose whatever you like the look of / feel most comfortable fitting.

I ended up getting a healtech one purely just because I got it for $200 AUD, They're $567 AUD brand new, and I was quoted $400 for the OEM one with a 4 month wait.
