I wonder if they bothered to make it Euro5 complaint for the EU market.
From the article:

Rumors seem to be split as to whether the CBR600RR will be Euro5 compliant (note, the bike seems certain for the Japanese market, which closely follows European emission regulations, so…) – as usual, we will have to wait and see.

Bennetts just confirmed that Honda have stated not for Europe/UK ... won't be Euro5 emissions compatible.

Looks like a facelift and respin of the last 600RR engine, cleaned up a bit for the Japanese market regs.

I wonder if its a tweaked 650 plant (smaller pots?) in a higher grade frame.

the 600 motor from its inception in 03 to 2020 is such a jewel, no reason to “fix” it, Mike and I were speculating that they bolted on some additional electronic trickery and a new dash and called It “upgraded”.

Honestly, other than a really good integrated ABS/TCS/ESC there is nothing I would change on my 2012., it’s near perfect as built.

for about 15 more hp (none of which you'd be able use on the street) over the 650R, the only reason to get the RR would be for the gadgets. Especially with the RR not being Euro5 compliant. I wonder if the 650s will fall into the flagship mid-weight category. The article does say this is likely the last generation for the 600RR

documented elsewhere here (and the previous Forum) by miweber929 @miweber929 , the 600RR is a completely different beast altogether. Its not just the HP increase, (which is closer to 30 I think) the frame and suspension are way different. The 19-20 R models made some improvements in the front suspension from the 14-18 F's, but the entire package on the 600 is on a much higher level. (My analogy is like an RS Camaro vs a ZL1)

I own both and ride both almost daily, and without major changes I don't think you could ever make the 650 series handle, accelerate or brake the way the 600 does. Just my opinion...

oh, absolutely all valid points. I'm thinking more within the next decade. Since this article mentioned the 600RR being the last generation, just speculating what direction their middleweight supersport might be going. Maybe they'll make a 650RR?

Who cares about all of that?!?! Just tell me how I can get one so I can bring it home and then:

- replace the exhaust
- replace the rear sets
- replace the sprockets
- replace the headlight
-replace the tail lights
- replace the blinkers
- install a tail tidy
- replace the wind shield
- install a quick shifter
- install a Power Commander
- remove the stickers
- replace the mirrors
- replace the bar ends
- add crash bars
- add a phone mount
- new brake pads
- new tires
...and finally...what's the best oil to use?

***Forgot to ask...What mod can I do to make my brand new 600RR run like a 1400cc???

Someone who is closer to the racing scene may chime in here, but I think the 600 was based on displacement restrictions from the sanctioning body? miweber929 @miweber929 ?
Yeah, the displacement was based out of the AMA/World Supersport racing classes, when the 600cc class went away it’s just been limited there based on the past. Also baugustine @baugustine is correct, it’s closer 25 or 30 hp difference between a stock 650 and 600; a “healthy” stock 650 will show between 75-80hp on a correct dyno at the rear wheel and the 600RR will be right about 100hp give or take a few. Both can get around 5-10hp from a pipe, filter, PCV and other slight tweaks but that’s it without major work.

I’m pretty confident this latest incarnation is a way to squeeze a few more years out of the chassis mold that’s been long paid for and sell a few more before it’s fully retired by just changing the bodywork and adding a few gadgets. The R6 refresh was the same thing and it started selling again, only recently has it been hanging around in my local showrooms. My guess is Honda will once again way overprice it and you’ll sell a few right away but you’ll be able to get leftover for a reasonable price a year or two from now.

**EDIT: Should have read the article before posting, that’s almost exactly what they said so my speculation wasn’t too far off, I guess!!!

If you haven’t ridden an RR do it, they are amazing bikes, all generations are equally great bikes. Just ride one that’s in good shape as they tend to get beat and are usually maintained poorly.

My last bike was a 2011 600RR with pipe, power commander. It was an insane machine. But, also a target for thieves :punch::rage:

For the type of riding I do (and my slowly aging joints), the 650R is way more suited :D
